Join me on Tuesday’s for great tips on Parenting and Loving our Children the Way God Love us.

Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”

Our children are a gifts” from God and learning to parent them in God’s direction takes learning and humbling yourself with knowledge from others and God. We are not perfect but seeking the Lord first in all you do will get better results and glorify God.

As I take a long hard look at the way we parent, we have done it in a selfish way. We want things to be our way or no way. Wanting our children to do things that we dont take the time out to do ourselves. Bringing in habits that our parents put on us. When giving ourselves to God we learn exactly what Gods plan is in raising up our children in God’s direction all those things we use to do are no more only God’s direction.

I recently purchased the book “The Duggars 20 and counting”. I will have to tell you that Bob & Michelle have some amazing advise to give and have the Lord centered right in the middle of their family.

Today we are gonna focus on “OBEDIENCE”
How many times to you tell your kids to do something and then say “But its not my job” or do I have to, or but I dont want to? Makes you want to pull your hair out doesn’t it? When we dont have God centered in our parenting that is exactly what we feel like.

This is very common to get the “back talk”. Something I started doing was teaching Wade & Petyon what back talking is. Back talking is when you have something to say when asked to do something by your mom or dad, instead of using the words “Yes Ma’am” or “Yes Sir”. When this happen they have to right a scripture I have chose 5 times for every time they back talk. Some days they have alot to write. I am using scripture that teaches then what God says about obeying your mom & dad. They are memorizing the scripture and learning Gods word at the same time.

Teaching our children why obedience is so crucial is very important to their raising. Teaching our children to obey our voices is also teaching then to obey God’s voice. The goal is to help our children learn to hear His still, small voice in their hearts so they learn to obey God. They will then know what is right and what is wrong.

Four obedience tips I learned from Michelle Duggars is:

Instant: For it to be instantly. If its not then its not obedience.
Cheerful: God wants us to obey Him joyfully and we as parents want the same thing from our children. Reminding them of the “Yes Ma’am attiutide or “Yes Ma’am Ill be happy to
Thorough: Insuring things get done that were asked of them
Unconditional: Teaching them to respond without arguing.

Words to Live By:
“To keep one’s voice sweet, one’s face bright, one’s will steady, one’s patience unperturbed, in the arena of the home, in the light of the one’s own family, is to light task”. Margaret Sangster

Great Tip to teach Obedience:
Bring your kids into the living room and let them know we are gonna play a game to teach them how to instantly obey, called the “obedience game”. Then what you or your husband do, is tell each child to do something like, Wade run upstairs count to ten and run back down and touch your dads hand. Have them then respond with Yes Ma’am or Yes Sir I would be happy to.

You want to keep this fast paced and quick. This will help them to learn to listen more intently to instructions, especially when you give them 3 or 4 things to complete in one command. This will also help with counting and simple coordination skills to.

Do you have ideas that you would like to share? Post your ideas and what is working for you in your household with Obedience.

Ephesians 6:4
“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”
