Good Morning friends. I am so excited about today. First of all its October 4th which is starting of Fall and 2nd I am starting the “Making Your Home a Haven” challenge.

My sweet friend Courtney over at “Women Living Well” started up this challenge and I am very excited because I am striving to be Home #2. Run on over to her blog and see what Home you are, then join us by linky up for this challenge. {take a moment to check out the challenge at Courtney’s blog, then link up}

This week myself and other moms will be striving to be a Proverbs 14:1 Women. The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

This challenge has already been a blessing in my life just reading the precious words that Courtney has posted on Making Your Home Haven. I cant wait to see the changes that the Lord has in store for me and the fresh touch He will bring. It got me thinking what exactly makes a home a haven? Have you every thought the same thing? Today we are so busy with “life” that we provide excuses why our homes are not cleaned, dishes still in the sink and not be bothered when someone stops by to see that.

I am humbled to know that I am not perfect however can try harder to make my home a haven for our Lord. Some days are harder then others because I have a hard time managing my time well. This challenge is going to help me get back on track to what is important and that is serving my Lord and setting the peace around our home.

The one thing I do not do is beat myself up when I can not get everything done. I just strive to do better the next time. If you have jumped over to “Women Living Well” and read “Which Home Are You”, dont beat yourself up if you are Home #1, most of us are, however we can make the choice to serve God and He knows we are not perfect. Look at what you want to take from this challenge and start working on those weaknesses. Strive to be Home #2 more and more each week.

This weeks challenge is: Oct 4th– Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. You can start this evening when the kids come home from school or at dinner time. I will be placing my in my kitchen, because this is the place that my family is most of the time. Place the candle somewhere in your home that will grab the attention of your family and yourself. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.

Letting the Lord work on your weaknesses only draws us closer. Dont look at yourself like you are a bad person cause you have more traits from Home #1, look at this challenge as a way to learn what your weaknesses are and strive to be Home #2. You will stubble however just get back up and try it again.

I am so excited to hear how this challenge is working in YOUR life. Please leave a comment below on how it is going, if you have any struggles let us know we will be right here drawer closer to God as well one day at a time.

Serving With Joy,

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
