Good Afternoon friends. I am so blessed that you stopped by today. It was a blessed weekend here at the Schroeder home. We had a baseball tournament with our little Peyton (7) and they won 1st place for the first time as a team and Wade he had a mission trip in the mountains Thurs-Sun. Was even able to have some alone time with hubby. God made things happen this weekend.

Do you ever feel like you pray to God everyday over your kids and it seems like nothing is happening? Do you want to throw your hands up because you have told your kids a million times not to do that? Or are there times when you ask yourself, why am I praying its not working, they are not being answered anyway?

We are our childrens mirror. They look to us for reassurance in their lives. We have to be the role model of Christ so when tough times comes for them they look to God through us.

I know I feel this way sometimes. The road of raising kids was not meant to be easy however I do practice Deuteronomy 6:5-7 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”

This is a reminder that I as a parent will never stop teaching my children, Gods ways. I will always impress Gods teaching on them for as long as I live and in steal in them after I am gone.

Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” By following God’s word as a parent we are setting up the mirror for our children to look to Christ through us. We can raise children who avoid evil and serve God faithfully by walking with Christ ourselves in front of our kids and by impressing upon them day and night Gods truth.
Even if you dont see your children walking the walk so to speak doesnt mean that God is not working in their lives, it just means God is working in His perfect timing. You will see God work, its just not on our time.
I share all of this with you because I AM a praying parent of a son and I also have a prodigal son. This son is the middle of 3 and feels like he always gets the raw end of the stick, that no one listens to him, that the world should stop and revolve around him, is filled with anger that I am not sure where it comes from, and is very heard strong.
Colossians 4:2 says
“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving”
Of his 13 years on this earth he did not grow up in a Christian home because I did not. It was 3 1/2 years ago that the Lord took over our home. The Lord has been working on my middle son this whole 3 1/2 years even though I could not see my prayers being answered in front of me.
He just got back from a mission trip in the mountains and he was able to spend some quite time with God. He shared with me this morning what his testimony was (I wanted to hear it in his words) and how God is working in his life today. I was blown away at how much he has grown spiritually. The Lord has answered my prayer that I have put upon him, it just wasnt on my time. I have been the mirror my child has needed even though I didnt feel I was getting through to him or when I felt that I was talking to myself, he was truly listening.
Always take time out to spend with God yourself so that when our children look in that mirror they see Christ and they know that we are truly broken & scared and the Lord will help us overcome our weaknesses!
Thanking God of the gift of my 3 sons and the job he has given me to raise them up in Him!
What kind of mirror are you when your children look to you?
See the mirror this little girl is looking into as she tells the story of Jonah. Its amazing!

Serving With Joy,

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
