Good Morning friends. I am truly blessed to have such amazing readers. I just stared in Jan of this year and never imagined it would have grown like this. God is good and is always doing great things when you do it to His Glory! So thank you all for taking the time to stop by and to follow little old me!!

Christmas Traditions in the Schroeder Home! I will say that our Christmas Traditions have changed as of 31/2 years ago. We dont celebrate in any part of Santa or gift receiving. We do gift giving and celebrate the “true” meaning for the season, THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST!

Acts 20:35 says In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: β€˜It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Growing in our relationship with the Lord, we see things through His eyes instead of the World’s eyes. After learning why we celebrated these worldly holidays from our up bringing we decided to practice in the true meaning and not confused them by celebrating in the lie of Santa.
I will tell you that the Lord has made New Christmas Tradition in our home and I could not be happier. I am also very excited to share them with you especially if you are torn between the world’s view or God’s view.
1. We pick from the Angel Tree at my son’s School. He loves to be the one to chose who we will give to. We pray about it and he will chose the one the Lord leads him to chose. Its a great involvement for the children!

2.We read the “The First Christmas” by Carol Heyer. I love reading the story of Jesus Christ to keep this fresh in our children mind. They love telling the story as well. We also encourage them to invite friends over who might not know Jesus so they can share His amazing story! We also read “Christmas Is About Love” by Barbara Rainey. I truly love this book. We found it on a marriage retreat called Weekend to Remember. It now has been added to our reading Christmas Tradition.

3. We give with our church to Gospel For Asia. This truly is a blessing to be involved in. The kids truly get to be involved with what they provide to these children. These are not the type of gifts we here in America would receive however it is what helps them survive.

We will be adding 2 new Christmas Traditions this year thanks to my sweet friend Courtney over at “Women Living Well” and Traci over at “Ordinary Inspirations”.

4.Courtney h as her kids color 5-10 pictures of Jesus, click here for color pictures to print, then as they are looki ng at Christmas lights they will cheer and clap for those who have the Nativity Scene displayed . They will then leave a picture with a note that reads “Thank you for displaying the rea son for the season” I totally love this and never thought of that, so we will be adding this one this year.

5.Traci does a Christmas Chain as their count down to Christmas. They draw and tell the story of Jesus on every link and right before bed they will pull a link off and read what it says. Once all 25 are gone it will be Christmas. I totally love this one too. My kids will love putting this together.

What Christmas Traditions do you have in your family that help us not to forget the reason for the season?

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
Proverbs 3:9

Each year the Lord opens our eyes to more of His ways and not the World’s ways. I found this video below that totally describes what are world is coming to when it comes to Christmas, they are forgetting about it. Every year the true reason for the season gets lost in all the SALES, SHOPPING, FOOD, GIFT GIVING and so on.

I see this everywhere and chose 3 1/2 years ago not to be like the video but to take a stand to get the word out about JESUS CHRIST and show His love on this holidays instead of receiving things for ourselves. It has truly been a blessing not having the stress and the debt come this time of year but the joy & peace that God intended it to be.

What will you do to to insure that the “TRUE” meaning for this season is not
forgotten?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Friends!
