Deuteronomy 6:6-7  “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”

Good afternoon sisters! Did you start Homeschool last week? We did! How was your first week?

Ours was blessed.

This is our first year Homeschooling and it has already showed to be a blessing. I enjoy spending the day with my little one and seeing him succeed and fail all at the same time.

We are trying to settle into our routine trying this and trying that. The great thing I love about HS is that when something doesn’t work we can change it. Its all about trial and error.

One of the biggest struggles I can see in this first week is keeping my son engaged. We have set days we do subjects however he wants to stop every second to get a drink or get something to eat or play.  Would love to hear from any of you that have this same struggle on what you do to keep their attention.

Our schedule: My older son attends a Private Christian school and has to be at school by 8am. So we get up and at them by 630 for prayer then devotion, breakfast and get him out the door on Gods note.

Then at 715 the little one is woke up so that we can drive Wade to school. We then get started as soon as we get home in prayer then into our day. That could be 815-830. I am flexible with the time start.

Monday & Wednesday:
  • Bible
  • English/LA
  • Math
Tuesday & Thursday:
  • Bible
  • Science
  • History
  • Art
Friday: is FUN FRIDAYS:
  • Bible
  • Here we do all our projects from the week instead of having them a part of our subjects through the week

I do use a timer for each subject so that he knows when it goes off he is done for us to move on to the next thing. We are averaging getting all subjects done in about 3-4 hours, depends on how fast he is moving and following directions 🙂

We also took first day school pictures however I can not find my cord to upload them from my camera 🙁 so I will add it to next weeks post.

I am looking forward to this journey that the Lord has us on. Please keep me in your prayers because this is our first year and that we stay on Gods path and not create our own.

I would love to hear how your first week is going, any struggles you have had, any suggestions that you can share about your HS experience to help us newbies!

I am linking up with Good Morning Girls Wednesday’s and Living Well Wednesday. Check them out when you get a moment. Great encouragement!
