Shelving the Lie on Halloween

October is almost coming to and end and the stores are filled with candy, costumes, decorations and signs of Christmas right around the corner.

I sit her with my heart heavy in knowing there are still people out there who have not studied or heard, should we or should we not participate in the worldly holidays.

This is a personal decision between YOU and GOD, please know that I am not judging anyone, just sharing why we do not participate in this holiday.

I wanted to take a moment and share with you all that in our home we decided to shelf the lie on Halloween and not celebrate it anymore.  Have you ever researched out the ORIGIN of this holiday? It will bring new meaning to wanting to find out all we can about something before we attach our lives to it. 🙂

I wrote about this last year called “Halloween, Participate, or Not” because every year the Lord shows me more and more about the origins of the holidays the way the world celebrates them.

John tells us in 1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of lie, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lust; but the one who does the will of God lives forever”

The origin of this holiday is filled with such darkness that it brought me to my knees in saying why would I want my children involved in something SO dark and better yet why are we sharing a LIE with them? Neither was pleasing to God and that is what matters!
We were telling them it was OK to lie. I mean how harmful can dressing up and getting candy be?

Its not that, for us, its that God is holy, pure, and just. He has NO room for darkness, so why should we? Following Him has NO compromise.

With that said we have made a choose not to partisipate in Halloween at all. I will say that we do leave our light on and give out candy along with tracks about Jesus. This give us a way to get Jesus into their hands. I want to be able to reach as many as I can about Jesus and let Him be the one who changes their mind about this dark day!

Would you take a moment to listen to this message I found about the “Origin of Halloween”.
I would love to hear your thoughts about how the Lord has moved in YOUR home in changing the way you look at how the world celebrates events or holidays.

Though my choices are not your choice please keep your heart open to what God may have for you through this post. Let Him be the one to peal away any layers that might be keeping one foot in the world and one foot with Him.

I highly encourage you to dig deep into scripture and let the Lord give you the answers that are pleasing to Him. He will speak to your heart and never steer you wrong.

Though some may disagree with me please be respectful in your comments or they will be deleted. All opinions are welcomed in a respectful manner. Thank you for your kindness.
