Day 18 – Trusting God’s Plan For Our Lives

Does your life look different than you once thought it would be?

Perhaps you are a “working” mom who has always dreamed of being able to stay home to homeschool your children, but unexpected circumstances prevented that dream. Perhaps you are a stay-at-home mom who would like to be able to help provide financially for your family but are unable to do so. Perhaps you are longing for a baby to hold, but your womb remains empty. Perhaps you are grieving the loss of a dear loved one, and hope seems too far away to grasp…

Sweet friend, can we trust God when His plan for our lives does not line up with our own?

Could we not only trust Him, but also …. thank Him for it?

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength” ~ Philippians 4:11-13

Many times, Satan gets a stronghold in our lives by allowing us to compare our own lives to those we perceive to be better. {I’m talking to me…}

The truth is, we see only the outward appearance of another person’s life. We have no ideas of the struggles they face. Maybe you know what I mean. Do you ever compare yourself to others? I know I do. The woman who you see in the supermarket, with the perfect teeth and designer clothing, always smiling, and seemingly in need of nothing? She has struggles too, and comparing my life against her life only steals my joy.

… and steals the gratitude from my heart.

God placed me in my “position” in life, complete with circumstances that might surprise me, for a reason. He has done the same for you, sweet friend.

Could we just stop together for a moment and thank Him for that?
Lord, thank you for this life that I did not expect.
Thank you for placing me in this circumstance with the specific purpose only you know.
Thank you for surrounding me with the people you have placed into my life.
Please help me to be a light for You.
Thank you for the challenges I face.
I know that these challenges allow me to depend not on my own strength, but only on you.
Thank you that I can do all things by Your strength.

Could you thank Him today for all He has done for you, even if His plan doesn’t match up to yours?

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
~ Habakkuk 3:17

Thankful Challenge:
Think about a time in your life when what YOU wanted did not aline up with what GOD has planned for you. Take a moment to reflect and thank God for His plan for you. Pray that the Lord will give you the strength to be content right where you are and embrace His plans for your life!
