For some, Homeschooling has came to an end to gear up for the Summer months.  While others have decided to keep going Year Round, like ours.

No matter what schedule has been taken we can agree that our children never stop learning and the world is our classroom!

This is our first year Homeschooling and I was not sure if we were going to do Year Round Homeschooling or take the summer off because I have a 14 year old who attends a private Christian school.  As I prayed about it, Homeschooling Year Round would be best for does not set in or learn what they have learned.

If they take more then a week off they totally forget what we went over. This helps us keep going and everything stays fresh in their head!

Here are some reasons why we chose to Homeschool Year Round:

Flexibility: Which we have a ton of already however being able to cater our work around my older son and dad is such a blessing. Dad is retiring this year from the Military and will be taking a few months off before returning to work. With year round schooling we can get dad/son/brother time in without missing work.

Traveling: If you have been  following me long you know that I have 3 boys that LOVE baseball. So to your imagination you know what our summer consist of? You guessed it, baseball.  We get to take beach trips, theme park trips and hang out as a family. At the end of July we will be traveling to MN to visit family and as part of our school we will be stopping in KY to the Creation Museum for a science field trip. I personally am VERY excited about this Smile

Continuity:  This is my most important reason why our family has chose to homeschool year round, not to have review the first months of new school year. We just keep trucking along keeping things fresh not wasting any time.

Steady Routine: I will say this is not my best quality however I do have some routine in our home. I do feel very accomplish when things are going smoothly and when my family takes off too long, slacking and procrastination starts to set in. This is also a great time to build on my 14 year old foundation in Christ while he is with me everyday.

Fields trips or Special Events: Since our learning never stops we take advantage of things going on around the area to keep our learning going. We also hang out with our Homeschool group from church for monthly trips.

Because every family is unique there truly is no right or wrong way to a Homeschool schedule. If you take off during the summer or if you chose to year round homeschool, as long as you’re seeking the Lord guidance for your family you can’t go wrong.

I would love to hear what schedule your homeschooling family chooses, year round or summer break.
