This being our first year of Homeschooling find curriculums was by far the hardest part of the whole journey.

There are whole sets out there or you can mix them up to use a little here and a little there.

We chose to mix and match. I thought this would be better for my child because we can explore so much variety which is what my son needs to stay focused Smile

One of the biggest questions I get is HOW DO I GO ABOUT CHOOSING A CURRICULUM?

1.) You want to learn your child’s learning style. This will help you to understand how your child learns so when looking for curriculum you are able to find what fits their learning style.

2.) Look for discount stores that offer affordable curriculums on a budget. One of my favorite stores to use is Hearts of Home Curriculum. They offer fast shipping throughout the USA & Canada, rewards points, & up to 30% off retail prices! They even try to price match if you find it somewhere else for a lower price.

3.) Ask friends/family that have been homeschooling for sometime as a place to start. Remember with this step that not all curriculum will work for your child.

4.) Join a Homeschool Curriculum Swap group where you can buy and sell curriculum for a huge discount. I like this option as well because sometimes I can get what I am looking for a huge discount.

5.) Here is the biggest step TRY a curriculum and if your child is not loving it don’t sweat it, get something else. The lovely thing about Homeschooling is we are NOT set in what we use to teach our children. I went through 3 Math’s before I banked on Math U See. So don’t be afraid to have to change in the middle of a school year if it is not a fit for your child.

6.) Prayer is always another great place to start. It is funny just how the Lord will open up the right door to bring what your child needs for his journey with the Lord.

Finding a curriculum can be overwhelming if you let it. I pray that this small bit of info can help you be at ease in finding your curriculum for the 2012-2013 school Year.

Here are a few of MY FAVORITE curriculums:

Math U See Delta

Bible – Seeds Family Worship, Bible Island, What’s In The Bible

A Reason For Handwriting

We Choose Virtues -character building

Apoligia Science Zoology 1

These are just  a few of my favorites. Check back next Friday where I will be sharing our studies for the 2012-2013 school year!

What curriculums do you love? Please share in the comments below for those that are looking for curriculums this  year.
