Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

My husband retired from the military last October and the Lord put him right into another job. The whole year leading up to him retiring we were in prayer that God would place him where He needed him to be.

He did that and much more.

He is now a contractor working with the military. Being a contractor means that work is as long as the contract. The contract is then renegotiated or a new contract is to be sought out. For some this could be stressful as the contract gets closer to the end however for us we are trusting in God that my husband will be at this job for as long as He wants him there.

However yesterday I got the scare of my life and my faith was tested!

My husband calls me on his way home from work to let me know that the budget for next year came in and they were letting 5 people go from his job. He went on to explain all the details.

I am going to be honest sweet sisters, my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. I had no idea what was about to come out of my husband mouth next but I was ready to hear the words I was one of those 5.

I could not believe that I doubted God for just that second! It reminded me of Peter when Jesus is walking on the water and Peter says to Jesus “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” Jesus said “Come”!
Peter gets out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. He then took his eyes of Jesus and began to sink.

How many times have we taken our eyes off of Christ only to sink?

After I gathered myself my husband went on to say that he was not one of the 5 people being let go. I thanked the Lord that is was not my husband and prayed for the 5 that would receive the news that it was them.

All  I could think about is, do I trust Jesus with all my being? If I doubt Him, do I stay in that doubt long or hurry and seek Christ because I know He only has His best for us? What is the worse thing that could happen if my husband did lose his job?

It only took a second for the enemy to be all over me! He started filling my head full and in a matter of seconds fear set in. It was quite scary that the enemy got over on me so quickly!

The great thing is, I know that MY GOD is bigger and it only took a few more seconds for me to realize who is in control of our life. If it was time for my husband to move on to the next part of his journey, then we were ready, scared and all.

I’ll doubt God again, however it will only be for a brief moment.

Fear will not paralyze me.

Fear will not suck me in.

Fear will not win this battle!

For I know who is in control! God goes before me and directs my path. He knows just what I am up against. All He wants to know is am I with Him?
